Frequently Asked Questions

Browse common questions about estimates, insurance, parts, repairs, and preparing your vehicle for service.

Can I choose which body shop repairs my vehicle? Insurance & Estimates

Yes. In California, an insurer cannot require your vehicle to be repaired at a specific automotive repair dealer. You may select Sunroad Collision Center or another repair facility.

Tell your insurance representative which shop you have selected and provide the shop’s information during the claim process.

What if the insurance estimate is lower than Sunroad’s estimate? Insurance & Estimates

Bring the insurance estimate with you. Our team can review the differences and, when appropriate, contact the insurance company about repair items or costs that need to be addressed.

Additional approved charges are commonly handled through a supplemental estimate during the repair process.

What is a deductible, and when do I pay it? Insurance & Estimates

A deductible is the portion of a covered repair that your insurance policy requires you to pay. The amount is set by your policy.

The deductible is paid directly to Sunroad Collision Center when the repairs are complete. The insurer pays its approved portion of the repair separately.

What are OEM parts? Parts & Repairs

OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer. OEM parts are made by, or for, the manufacturer of your vehicle and are designed for the vehicle’s original specifications.

Does Sunroad repair my make and model? Parts & Repairs

Sunroad Collision Center services a broad range of foreign and domestic makes and models. Contact the team with your vehicle year, make, model, and repair needs to confirm the appropriate repair path.

Is Sunroad’s repair work covered by a warranty? Parts & Repairs

Eligible parts, bodywork, and paintwork may be covered under Sunroad Collision Center’s written warranty, subject to its ownership requirements, exclusions, and other terms.

Review the complete Warranty page for coverage details before relying on a summary.

What should I do after an accident? Before Your Visit
  • Move to a safe location when possible and follow instructions from emergency personnel.
  • Do not drive the vehicle if it appears unsafe.
  • Exchange information and document the vehicles and damage when it is safe to do so.
  • Notify your insurer and tell the claims representative which repair facility you selected.
  • Call Sunroad Collision Center for repair, towing, estimate, or appointment guidance.
Can Sunroad help coordinate a rental car? Before Your Visit

Yes. Sunroad Collision Center can help coordinate with a rental agency. Rental eligibility, approved duration, and customer cost depend on the insurance policy or rental arrangement.

Do I need to get three repair estimates? Insurance & Estimates

No. The original Sunroad FAQ explains that customers generally need to notify their insurance representative where the repairs will be completed rather than collect three separate estimates.

Insurance requirements can vary by policy and claim, so confirm any claim-specific steps directly with your insurer.

What happens if additional damage is found? Insurance & Repair Process

Some damage is not visible until the vehicle is disassembled. If additional damage is found, it is documented and reviewed with you and the insurance company.

A supplemental estimate may require authorization or another inspection. Additional parts may also need to be ordered, which can affect the completion timeline.

Can Sunroad waive or absorb my deductible? Insurance & Estimates

No. Sunroad Collision Center does not waive or absorb insurance deductibles. Customers are responsible for the deductible required by their policy.

What are LKQ or used replacement parts? Parts & Repairs

LKQ means “Like, Kind and Quality.” The term commonly refers to used replacement parts intended to match the type and condition of the part that was on the vehicle before the loss.

Questions about which replacement parts are included in an insurance estimate should be discussed with the insurer and repair team before authorization.

Can the repaired paint be matched to my vehicle? Parts & Repairs

Sunroad uses trained paint technicians and computerized color-matching equipment to match the refinished area as closely as possible to the vehicle’s existing finish.

Vehicle age, fading, prior paintwork, and the condition of the surrounding panels may affect the refinishing approach.

Will Sunroad coordinate with my insurance company? Repair Process

Sunroad Collision Center can communicate with the insurance company about estimates, supplements, repair documentation, and claim-related repair details.

Your insurance policy and insurer determine coverage, deductibles, rental benefits, and claim approvals.

Should I remove personal belongings before dropping off my vehicle? Before Your Visit

Yes. Remove valuables, personal items, garage-door openers, child seats, and anything else you may need while the vehicle is being repaired.

Technicians may need access to the interior, trunk, cargo area, or other panels during disassembly and repair.
